The Reading Royals (4-3-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, dropped their second consecutive game to the Trois-Rivères Lions (2-2-1), 3-2, on Friday, November 1st at Colisée Vidéotron. Goaltender Parker Gahagen (2-3-0) suffered the loss in goal for Reading with 24 saves on 27 shots faced. Lions’ goaltender Hunter Jones (1-0-1) earned the win in goal with 23 saves on 25 shots faced.
Trois-Rivères scored the game’s opening goal 6:30 into play on a coast-to-coast goal by Jacob Perreault for his first goal of the season. Jones earned the assist on Perreault’s goal scored on a dangle through Reading’s defense and around Gahagen’s pad save attempt. The Royals evened the score on Emile Chouinard’s first professional career goal. Jacques Bouquot assisted on Chouinard’s game-tying goal at 12:32 to keep the score tied after the first period, 1-1.
Trois-Rivères restored their lead on Morgan Adams-Moisan power play goal on a deflection in front of Gahagen’s crease. Adams-Moisan’s second goal of the season stood as the Lions’ lead for 37 seconds before Gianfranco Cassaro earned his first professional career goal with a wrist shot past Jones’ glove at 8:06 in the second period.
The third period began with a 2-2 score and remained even until Xavier Cormier beat Gahagen with a wrist shot at the left face-off circle. The goal at 14:24 into the final frame stood as the game-winner, assisted by Israel Mianscum who earned his fourth point (2g-2a) in the two-game series against Reading.
Reading’s road trip continues on Saturday, November 2nd at 6:00 PM and Sunday, November 3rd at 3:00 PM against the Maine Mariners at Cross Insurance Arena. The Royals return home on Wednesday, November 6th to host the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 PM at Santander Arena for a WIld Wednesday promotional game.
