Reading, PA - The Reading Royals (4-2-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, opened their four-game road trip with a loss to the Trois-Rivères Lions (1-2-1), 4-2, on Wednesday, October 30th at Colisée Vidéotron. Goaltender Parker Gahagen (2-2-0) suffered the loss in goal for Reading with 32 saves on 36 shots faced. Lions’ goaltender Zachary Émond (1-0-0) earned the win in goal with 44 saves on 46 shots faced. 

BOX SCORE

Trois-Rivères scored the game’s opening goal 8:28 into play on a blue line blast from Jacob Paquette for his first goal of the season. Israel Mianscum extended Trois-Rivères’ lead to two, 2-0, with a wrist shot past Gahagen’s glove at 6:38 of the second period following a diving stop in net by Émond on the opposite end.

Parker AuCoin beat Émond on a Royals’ power play 16:38 into the middle frame to draw Reading within one, 2-1. AuCoin’s first goal as a Royal was assisted by Jacques Bouquot and Connor McMenamin, who earned his team-leading sixth point on the goal.

Tommy Cormier restored Trois-Rivères’ two-goal lead with his first professional career goal 1:57 into the third period, 3-1. Cormier’s goal came on a wrist shot from the left face-off circle assisted by Jacob Perreault and Mianscum.

With 10:28 remaining in regulation, Brock Caufield rifled a one-timer past Émond from the left faceoff circle to bring the Royals back within one goal, 3-2. Caufield’s goal came off of a sequence of passes from Sam Sedley and Matt Miller for Reading’s second power play goal in the game and Caufield’s first goal as a Royal.

Mianscum put the Lions up by two for good, 4-2, with his second goal and third point in the game with a wrist shot off of a clean offensive zone draw win by Perreault. Reading’s season series with Trois-Rivères is split at 1-1 with game three of eight in the season series on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 PM at Trois-Rivères.

The Royals return home on Wednesday, November 6th to host the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 PM at Santander Arena for a Wild Wednesday promotional game.
