Mackin topped Ferris State with 10 goals this season
Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced Thursday the team has signed forward Corey Mackin to an amateur tryout contract (ATO). Mackin is a Philadelphia, PA native and captained Ferris State each of his last two collegiate seasons (2017-19). Reading has five Pennsylvania natives on the active roster: Mackin, Adam Schmidt (Warrington), Chris McCarthy (Collegeville), Nick Luukko (West Chester) and Joe Houk (Richboro). Mackin grew up in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended 9th, 10th and 11th grade at Philadelphia’s Father Judge High School.Mackin topped Ferris State with ten goals this season and ranked second on the squad with 25 points. The 23-year-old also completed his junior campaign with 25 points (10g), which was tied for first among Bulldogs. During his sophomore campaign, Mackin received WCHA All-Second Team honors and finished with personal NCAA highs of 13 goals and 26 points. He stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 167 pounds.Mackin finished second or better on the Bulldogs in points in all four of his NCAA seasons. During the 2015-16 season, Mackin scored 25 points (10g) as a freshman, was selected WCHA Rookie of the Year and helped Ferris States reach the NCAA Elite Eight as the team won the WCHA Broadmoor Trophy (WCHA Postseason Conference Champions).For his NCAA career, Mackin scored 43 goals and 101 points in 149 games and missed two contests in his collegiate career. He generated seven multi-goal games with Ferris State.Prior to his NCAA in Big Rapids, MI, Mackin was named 2014-15 CJHL MVP, leading the BCHL in goals (50) and points (104) with Coquitlam.
