Royals sign rookie F Darrar

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced Tuesday the team has signed forward Rob Darrar (pronounced: DARE-uh). He joins the club from Huntsville (SPHL), where the rookie ranks second on the team and eighth in the league in goals (13) and points (31).A graduate of the University of Vermont, Darrar captained the 2017-18 Catamounts and posted two goals and 12 points in 36 games. For his NCAA career, the Monroe Township, NJ native scored 13 goals and 37 points in 113 games. He generated a NCAA-best seven goals (13 pts.) as a junior in 20 games.  Darrar stands 5-foot-10 and weighs 198 pounds. He spent three seasons 2010-13 attending The Gunnery prep, the same school that helped develop Royals captain Nick Luukko.Prior to his NCAA career, he skated for Dubuque (USHL) in 2013-14 and topped the Fighting Saints with five goals and seven points in the playoffs. Next Home GamesWed., Jan. 30, 7:00 p.m. vs. Maine: Postgame player autograph session, pres. by Rieck’s Printing.Sat., Feb. 2, 7:00 p.m. vs. Manchester: Marvel Super Hero™ Night and Diamond Credit Union Wall of Honor Night.
