Reading, PA – The Reading Royals received goals from Michael Huntebrinker, Steve Johnson and Alex Krushelnyski in a 8-3 loss to the Adirondack Thunder Friday at Santander Arena. After Huntebrinker provided Reading a 1-0 lead more than halfway through the first, the Thunder scored to tie it, 1-1, after one. Reading surrendered five goals in the second period.Reading and Adirondack complete a home-and-home set at Cool Insuring Arena Saturday at 7:00 p.m.Adam Marsh earned a primary assist on Reading’s first goal from Huntebrinker, netting Marsh a point in his Royals debut. Marsh also fought Kelly Summers in the second period.Angus Redmond made 26 saves. Alex Sakellaropoulos denied 23 shots.Reading’s next home game is Fri., Nov. 30 vs. Kalamazoo at 7:00 p.m., featuring a PA Lottery Voucher giveaway to fans 18 and older.Box ScoreHuntebrinker’s fifth of the season provided Reading a 1-0 edge with 7:26 left in the first. Marsh slung it cross-ice to Huntebrinker at the right circle. He caught it deftly, reaching back, catching it and propelling the puck in at the left post. A second-year forward from St. Louis, MO, Huntebrinker has goals in consecutive games and points in 14 of 15 games this campaign. Scott Dornbrock netted the secondary assist.Three minutes later, Conor Riley tied it with a back-handed slot shot over Redmond. The game was tied, 1-1, after 20 minutes.In the second period, Reading allowed three straight goals to Matt Salhany (:41), Mike Szmatula (3:44) and Dennis Kravchenko (8:40).The Royals made it a 4-2 game on Johnson’s power-play goal sniped from the bottom of the right circle. Alex Krushelnyski aimed it cross-ice to the wide-open Johnson.In the final seven minutes of the second frame, Riley and Jake Linhart bagged insurance goals to provide the Thunder a four-goal edge.Krushelnyski scored his fifth of the campaign at the left post.
