Goalie Mark Dekanich recalled from loan by Lehigh Valley

PA native Brent Troyan added as emergency backup goaltender

Reading, PA – The Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL) announced Friday goaltender Mark Dekanich has been recalled from loan with the Reading Royals. Brent Troyan has been added to the Royals’ roster as an emergency backup goaltender (EBUG). Reading’s goaltenders are John Muse and Troyan.

Dekanich started the season with Reading and is 3-2-0-0 with a 2.80 goals against average and .898 save percentage. The 31-year-old is in his second season with the Royals. Last year, Dekanich led Reading goaltenders with 39 games played and was 21-12-3-1 with a 3.04 goals against average and .910 save percentage. He also appeared in one game with Lehigh Valley.

Troyan, a Johnstown, PA native, has been an EBUG with the Royals five times and last earned a professional win in 2015-16 with the Dayton Demolition (FHL). He was the emergency backup for Wheeling in December 2016 when the Nailers visited the Royals. The 28-year-old has also been an EBUG for the Royals in 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2015-16.

Dekanich has netminded 164 AHL games over 10 professional seasons and played in his only NHL game for the Nashville Predators against the Los Angeles Kings in December 2010.

In the ECHL, the North Vancouver, BC native has posted a 46-23-5-3, 2.57 goals against average and .917 save percentage in 81 games.

Prior to his time with the Flyers, Dekanich anchored South Carolina in 2015-16 with a 2.16 goals against average and .925 save percentage.

In 2010-11, Dekanich made the AHL All-Star Classic with the Milwakuee Admirals and led the league in save percentage (.931).

The Royals are at home Sat., Nov. 11 against Jacksonville at 7 p.m. Reading will hand out replica jersey rally towels to the first 2,500 fans, courtesy of the U.G.I. Utilities.
