Royals Ready to Open Season Sixteen "Hometown Hockey" Training Camp with Sunday (October 2) Evening Start

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced the team’s Pre-Season Training Camp Schedule. The on-ice practice sessions, all of which are open to the public, will begin with a fan friendly weekend practice on Sunday, October 2, 2016, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The Royals’ Season Sixteen “Hometown Hockey” Training Camp, which will include a pair of pre-season games, will feature daily skating sessions from October 2 through Thursday, October 13. Up to and until the pre-season home-and-home series with the Elmira Jackals (October 7 and 8), the on-ice training camp practice sessions will be held from 4 pm through 6 pm at Santander Arena. After the pre-season games (and an off-day on Sunday, October 9), the on-ice practice sessions will shift to earlier in the day—10:00 am until 12:00 noon. Please note, however, that the team’s on-ice practice session for Monday, October 10, will be held at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex (3103 Paper Mill Road, Wyomissing, PA; 610-376-2100) from 11:00 am through 12:30 pm. As noted, the Royals will face-off in a two-game home-and-home pre-season series with the Elmira Jackals beginning on Friday, October 7 (7:00 pm) when the Jackals will visit Santander Arena. As has been the case for the past several seasons, the Royals have joined forces with the Greater Berks Food Bank to invite everyone to that game for FREE! Fans can gain admission by simply bringing and donating a canned good or non-perishable food item for the Food Bank that will be collected at the main entrance to Santander Arena that night. The Royals will complete the pre-season schedule the next evening, Saturday, October 8 (7:05 pm) when the team will travel to First Arena in Elmira, New York, to take on the Jackals in the pre-season finale.
