Royals Sign Forward Adam Berkle

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Adam Berkle. The Royals have announced eleven players as signed to ECHL Standard Players Contracts for the 2015-16 season. In addition to Berkle, Reading has announced the signing of forwards Justin Crandall, Robbie Czarnik, Cam Reid, Mike Pereira, Joe Rehkamp and Ian Watters and defensemen Jordan Heywood, Derik Johnson, Curtis Leonard and Sam Windle.

Last season, Berkle (6’2/194) (25), who hails from Collegeville, PA, registered twenty-one points (7g-14a) and thirty-four penalty minutes in his senior season at Bowling Green State University. Berkle, who served as an alternate captain for the Falcons last year, received the Howard Brown Coaches Award at the conclusion of the season. Berkle, who was a member of the 2008 Pennsylvania State Championship team at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, racked up eighty-four points (31g-53a) and 177 penalty minutes in 158 career games at BGSU.

The Fifteenth Season of Royals’ hockey kicks off with back-to-back games against the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday (October 17) and Sunday (October 18). Reading then opens the home portion of the team’s schedule on Saturday, October 24, (7:00 pm) when the Elmira Jackals visit Santander Arena.
