Goaltender Martin Ouellette Recalled to Lehigh Valley

Goaltender Martin Ouellette Recalled to Lehigh Valley

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Martin Ouellette has been recalled to the Phantoms. In a separate transaction also announced today, goaltender Joe Howe was returned to the Royals from the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL and was placed on Reading’s ECHL Reserve List.

This marks the third recall of the season to the AHL for Ouellette, a first year pro from Saint Hippolyte, Quebec. In nineteen games with the Royals, Ouellette has compiled a record of 11-6-1-1 with a 2.85 goals against average and .907 save percentage with one shutout. In three games with the Phantoms, Ouellette has gone 1-1-0-0 with a 1.92 gaa and .934 save percentage.

Howe, who was acquired by the Royals in a trade with the Utah Grizzlies in late December, was loaned to the Monarchs on January 5. He did not appear in a game for Manchester during this most recent stint in the AHL. A second year pro from Plymouth, Minnesota, Howe has appeared in one game for the Royals. He made 25 saves in the Royals’ 4-3 win over the Elmira Jackals on December 27. Overall this season, including his time with the Utah Grizzlies, Howe has compiled a record of 4-3-0-2 with a 3.57 goals against average and a .887 save percentage in the ECHL.

NEXT UP: The Royals kick off another three game ‘mini-series’ against the Elmira Jackals this Friday (January 16) at First Arena in Elmira, New York (@ 7:05 pm). The game night broadcast for Friday’s game can be heard live on CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 in Reading, Pennsylvania, starting with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield at 6:35. As with all Royals’ road games this season, next Friday’s game will be televised live in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
