Congratulations to Former Royal Goaltender Jonathan Quick on Second Stanley Cup Championship

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL extend congratulations to Los Angeles Kings’ goaltender, Jonathan Quick, and his teammates on the Kings’ second Stanley Cup Championship in a span of three seasons. Quick and the Kings clinched the best-of-seven championship series with a 3-2 double-overtime victory in Game Five of the Finals against the New York Rangers this evening at Staples Center in Los Angeles. In twenty-eight playoff games for the Kings in this year’s march to the Cup, Quick went 16-8-2.

Quick (28), a seventh year pro from Hamden, Connecticut, began his pro career with the Royals, playing thirty-eight games (23-11-3, 2.79 goals against average, .905 save percentage) with Reading in 2007-08. Quick, who received the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL’s playoff MVP when the Kings won it all in 2012, is the first former Royal to win the Stanley Cup twice. Other former Royals who have hoisted the Cup include George Parros (Anaheim Ducks, 2007), Derek Clancey (Pittsburgh Penguins, 2009), and Rich Peverley (Boston Bruins, 2011).
