Royals Sign Goaltender Braely Torris to Amateur Tryout Agreement

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Braely Torris to an Amateur Tryout Agreement. In a separate transaction also announced today, the Bears recalled goaltender Riley Gill from Reading. Hershey also loaned forward Josh Brittain to Reading. In a separate transaction, defenseman Mike Banwell was returned to the Royals from the Springfield Falcons. The Royals also activated forward Ryan Santana from the ECHL Reserve List and released him from his ECHL contract.

Torris (5’11/181) (23), who hails from Red Deer, Alberta, just completed his season at Neumann College where he went 13-4-2, with a 1.85 goals against average and a .942 save percentage with four shutouts. This is the third trip of the year to Hershey for Gill, who has compiled a 16-11-0-1 with a 2.49 goals against average and .918 save percentage in twenty-nine appearances for the Royals. He has appeared in three games for Hershey, going 2-0-1 with a 1.66 GAA and .948 save percentage.

For Brittain, this is his second trip to Reading. He has recorded twenty-one points (11g-11a) and eight penalty minutes in twenty-one games with the Royals. In twenty games with Hershey, he has four points (3g-1a) and twenty-six penalty minutes. Banwell was loaned to Springfield last Thursday. He did not appear with the Falcons during this stint in the AHL. In forty-nine games with the Royals, Banwell has fourteen points and forty-two penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action tonight (Wednesday, March 12 @ 7:05 pm) when the team travels to First Arena in Elmira, New York, to face the Elmira Jackals. Wednesday’s game night broadcast will kick off at 6:35 pm on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show. As with all Royals’ road games, Wednesday’s game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
