Royals Acquire ECHL Rights to Forward Adrian Foster

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has acquired the ECHL rights to forward Adrian Foster as completion of the future considerations element to the trade completed on October 14, 2013, which sent defenseman Damon Kipp to San Francisco.

Foster (6’0/211) (32), a twelfth year pro from Lethbridge, Alberta, is currently on loan to the Abbotsford Heat of the AHL, where he has recorded one assist and two penalty minutes in five games. While with San Francisco this season, Foster registered seventeen points (5g-12a) and thirty-six penalty minutes in fifteen games. In 41 total games in the ECHL over the past two seasons, Foster has forty-four points (16g-28a) and sixty-two penalty minutes. In the post-season last year with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, he also racked up fourteen points (5g-9a) in sixteen playoff games.

Selected in the first round (twenty-eighth overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Foster has recorded eighty-nine points (31g-58a) in 205 total regular season games in the AHL with the Albany River Rats, Lowell Devils, Houston Aeros, Lake Erie Monsters, and Abbotsford. During his pro career, Foster has also played in 106 elite European pro games in Austria, Germany and Sweden. Prior to turning pro, Foster played for three seasons of major junior in the Western Hockey League where he put up thirty-five points (15g-20a) in thirty-nine total games with the Saskatoon Blades and Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Royals return to action on Wednesday (January 29 @ 7:30 pm) when the Royals continue the team’s six game road trip at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio, against the Cincinnati Cyclones. As with all Royals’ road games this year, Wednesday’s game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations. The game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 7:00 pm on the Royals Broadcast Network.
