Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Josh Brittain has been loaned by the Bears to the Royals.
Brittain (6’5/233) (24), a fourth year pro from Milton, Ontario, has picked up four points (3g-1a) and twenty-six penalty minutes in nineteen games for the Bears this season. A third round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Brittain has recorded thirty points (16g-14a) and 180 penalty minutes in 113 career AHL games with the Syracuse Crunch, Norfolk Admirals, and Hershey. Brittain also has recorded forty-three points (21g-22a) and 130 penalty minutes in 78 career games in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals and Fort Wayne Komets. Last season in thirty-one games with the Komets, Brittain racked up twenty-seven points (13g-14a) and thirty-four penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Brittain registered 152 total points (80g-72a) and 370 penalty minutes in 258 games in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kingston Frontenacs, Barrie Colts, and Plymouth Whalers.
The Royals return to action today (Monday, January 20 @ 1:05 pm) when the Royals will face the Elmira Jackals in the team’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday game. That day, fans get two free kids tickets with the purchase of a single adult ticket. There will also be $2.00 parking courtesy of the Reading Parking Authority. It is also a Berks Packing Dollar Day with $1.00 hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, and soda. The first 1000 adults 55 and older will receive a gym bag courtesy of Reading Health System. On Monday, the Royals will wear special jerseys honoring the team’s AHL affiliate, Hershey Bears, which will be sold after the game on the Royals’ website. The game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 12:35 pm on the Royals Broadcast Network.
