Royals Sign Forward Brandon Blandina

Reading, PA – Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Brandon Blandina to an ECHL contract.

Blandina (6’0/200) (24), a second year pro who hails from Centennial, Colorado, began the season with the Elmira Jackals and played eight games (0g-1a=1pt, 4 pims) before being released on November 20. Last season, Blandina played four games in two separate stints with the Royals without registering any points or penalty minutes. He also had a pair of stints in Elmira last year, scoring seven goals, assisting on eleven others (eighteen points) and registering twenty-one penalty minutes for the Jackals. At the end of the season, Blandina was selected as the Jackals’ team Rookie of the Year. Prior to turning pro, Blandina had a four year collegiate career at Robert Morris University where he registered thirty-eight points (11g-27a) and fifty-six penalty minutes in 133 games with the Colonials.

The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, November 29 @ 7:05 pm) when the team will face the Cincinnati Cyclones at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. The first 2000 fans fifteen years of age and older will receive a Royals’ Championship Flag courtesy of Metro Bank. Also, the first 2500 fans eighteen years of age and older will receive a lottery ticket courtesy of the Pennsylvania Lottery. After the game on Friday, there will be a ‘I Hate Turkey’ Pizza Shoot courtesy of Little Caesars in Sinking Spring. The pre-game warm-up show on Friday presented by Highmark Blue Shield will kick off at 6:35 pm on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm on the Royals Broadcast Network presented by Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
