Royals Agree to Terms with Forward Rob Linsmayer

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the organization has agreed to terms with forward Rob Linsmayer. The Royals now have nineteen players announced as signed to ECHL contracts for the 2013-14 season. In addition to Linsmayer, the others are: Mike Banwell (d), Matt Campanale (d), Louie Caporusso (f), Julien Cayer (f), Ethan Cox (f), Ryan Kavanagh (d), Damon Kipp (d), David Marshall (f), Bryant Molle (d), Ian O’Connor (f), Ryan Santana (f), Bobby Shea (d), Yannick Tifu (f), David Toews (f), Brad Walch (d), Ian Watters (f), Sean Wiles (f), and Marc Zanette (f).

Linsmayer (5’11/216) (23), who hails from Winnetka, Illinois, will be entering his first full season of pro. Last year, after completing his senior season at Holy Cross College, Linsmayer played four games for the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL and scored his first pro goal in a 5-0 win over the San Francisco Bulls in late March. Linsmayer, who recently attended NHL Rookie Camp with the Washington Capitals, tied for second in scoring at Holy Cross last season, recording twenty seven points (7g-20a) in thirty-six games while serving as an assistant captain for the Crusaders. Linsmayer, who was a semi-finalist for the Walter Brown Award (Top American-Born College Hockey Player in New England) after his sophomore season, was chosen as Atlantic Hockey’s Best Defensive Forward that year. In his junior year, 2011-12, Linsmayer led Atlantic Hockey with five game winning goals and earned a selection to the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. Linsmayer, who played a school record 150 games during his four year stint at Holy Cross, recorded 100 total points (39g-61a) in his collegiate career with the Crusaders.

The Royals kick off the defense of the team’s 2013 Kelly Cup Championship on Saturday, October 19, 2013, (7:35 pm), at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, with the 2013-14 season opener against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Royals also face the Stingrays on Sunday, October 20 (4:05 pm) in Game Two of Opening Weekend. Season Tickets for the 2013-14 Reading Royals are currently available.
