Royals Meet Nailers in Wheeling For 2024 New Year's Eve Puck Drop

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, conclude the 2024 calendar year on the road against the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena on Tuesday, December 31st at 6:10 PM.

Reading opens the 2025 calendar year at Worcester for a two-game road series against the Railers on Friday, January 3rd at 7:05 PM and Saturday, January 4th at 6:05 PM.

The Royals return home to host the Trois-Rivières Lions for a three-game series on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th at 7 PM, as well as Sunday, January 12th at 3 PM. The home games feature the 'Fans Pick the Music Night,' Star Wars Night, and Puck N' Pancakes promotional games, respectively.

Royals Right Now:

The Royals enter their sixth meeting of the season with the Nailers (1-4-0) with a 10-16-4-0 record after splitting their two-game series with the Worcester Railers on Friday, December 27th (2-1 W) and Saturday, December 28th (5-3 L). Defenseman Gianfranco Cassaro set the new team-high for points (18) with two assists on Saturday and enters Tuesday on a three-game point streak (4a).

Forwards Tyler Gratton, Todd Skirving and Connor McMenamin lead Reading in goals (7) while forward Matt Miller and defensemen Sam Sedley and Cassaro tie for the team-lead in assists (13).

Scouting the Nailers:

Wheeling enters the stand-alone bout with a league-leading 21-5-1-0 record (43 points) through the first 27 games of their 2024-25 campaign. Previously, the Nailers have won each of their last three games with a two-game series sweep of Iowa after a 3-2 win over Cincinnati on Friday, December 27th in their first game out of the holiday break.

ECHL affiliates to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Wheeling's offense is led by forward Anthony Calvert who has a team-high 28 points (11g-17a). Forward Kyle Jackson leads Wheeling in goals (13) while forward Jack Beck leads the club in assists (21).
