Royals Shutout by Jones, Fuel in Homestand Finale, 3-0

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals (5-6-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, fell to the Indy Fuel, 3-0, in their three-game homestand finale at Santander Arena on Sunday, November 10th. Goaltender Parker Gahagen (2-4-1) suffered the loss with 17 saves on 19 shots faced. Fuel goaltender Peyton Jones (2-2-0) earned his sixth professional career shutout and the win in goal with 23 saves.

BOX SCORE

Neither team found the back of the net through the opening 40 minutes with Reading totaling 16 shots and Indy registering 13 shots. Indy broke the scoreless tie 8:42 into the third period on a dangle and backhand shot goal by Ty Farmer for his first goal of the season.

Indy extended their lead to two goals on a power play goal by Cam Hausinger at 12:05 of the third period. Hausinger deflected a wrist shot by Nick Grima for his first goal of the season. 

Brandon Saigeon capped off Indy’s third shutout win of the season with an empty net goal from the red line at 18:15 of regulation. Reading’s shutout loss was the second game this season in which they failed to score a goal in a game.

The Royals open a four-game road trip on Wednesday, November 13th at 7:00 PM against the Maine Mariners at Cross Insurance Arena before facing the Adirondack Thunder in three-straight games at Cool Insuring Arena on Friday, November 15th at 7:00 PM, Saturday, November 16th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, November 17th at 3:00 PM.

The Royals return home on Friday, November 22nd to open a two-game home stint with the opener against the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 PM at Santander Arena before the homestand finale against the Maine Mariners on Saturday, November 23rd at 7:00 PM at Santander Arena.
