Reading Royals to Support Rally for Ryder Through 2024-25 Chuck-a-Puck Fundraiser

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, are excited to announce that proceeds from this season's Chuck-a-Puck sales, presented by Savage Auto Group, will benefit Rally for Ryder.

Rally for Ryder was established in honor of Ryder Knechtle, a young Sinking Spring resident and Reading Royals fan who was named the team's honorary captain for a game, where he enjoyed unforgettable experiences, including riding the Zamboni and meeting players during warmups. Rally for Ryders’ fundraising initiatives support the Elle's Angels Foundation, which funds research for DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a rare and aggressive childhood brain cancer. Ryder's friend Elle, who also battled DIPG, fought alongside him; the two passed away one year apart, leaving a legacy of strength and friendship.

"Chuck-a-Puck is a long-loved standard of Reading Royals hockey, but thanks to our friends at Savage Auto Group, we’re able to make a real impact with it this season,” states Team President, David Farrar. “The Royals community fell in love with Ryder when he joined us as Honorary Captain during the 2021- 22 season, so to pay it forward in his name is an honor for us all.”

Chuck-a-Pucks can be purchased at Section 101 during every Royals' home game throughout the 2024-25 season. Fans can buy pucks in bundles of 5 for $5, 10 for $10, or 15 for $15. During the second intermission, participants will have the opportunity to toss their foam pucks onto the center-ice target, with the chance to win a cash prize—all while supporting an important cause.

Join us this season, along with Savage Auto Group, as we Rally for Ryder and help make a difference in the fight against DIPG.
