Royals Sign Goaltender Ryan Kenny to SPC

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, proud affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, announced that goaltender Ryan Kenny has signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC).

Kenny, 24, appeared in two games for the Royals in the 2022-23 season. The Sparta, New Jersey native recorded a 0-1-1 record, 5.06 .811 save percentage. Kenny has appeared in 19 games in the SPHL this season with the Fayetteville Marksmen. The 6'2", 205-pound, right-hand catching netminder posted a 14-3-2 record, 2.11 GAA, .940 save percentage and one shutout with the Marksmen this season.

Prior to signing his first professional contract with the Royals on March 1, 2023, Kenny played college hockey at the Stevenson University.

Kenny hoisted a 56-23-5 record in his collegiate career and put up a .917 save percentage and 2.43 GAA. Kenny was a decorated Stevenson athlete, and was named back-to-back UCHC First Team All-Conference, and Goaltender of the Year awards in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Additionally, he was listed to the NCAA Division-III MAC First Team All-Conference each of his university seasons, and was named the MAC’s Defensive Player of the Year his junior and senior years.

The Royals open a three-game home series with the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Santander Arena.

2023-24 Season Memberships
