Royals Open Home Series With Nailers on Pride Night

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, open a three-game home series with the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Santander Arena.

The home game will be the Royals annual Pride Night presented by LGBT Center of Greater Reading! Fans can enjoy a Pride Celebration and Wild Wednesday deals including $2 beer at select locations on the concourse, Buy One, Get One College Student tickets, and $6.10 Orange Zone tickets! College students can claim their BOGO ticket deal at the box office at Santander Arena!

Royals Right Now:

The Royals hoist a 16-17-2-1 record after falling to the Mariners in overtime, 4-3, in the six-game series finale on Sunday, January 21. The Royals took the first two of three face-offs on the weekend in Maine to finish the six-game series with a 3-2-1 record and 7 of the possible 12 points.

Matt Brown leads the Royals with 33 points and 21 assists. Ryan Chyzowski scored his team leading 13th goal of the season on Saturday, January 20. Gahagen has won seven of his last eight starts in net for Reading. He turned aside 31 of 32 shots faced in his seventh win of the season in the Saturday night victory for Reading.

Scouting the Nailers:

Wheeling enters the series at 18-16-1-1 through 36 games this season. The Nailers swept the Iowa Heartlanders in two-game series with wins on Friday, January 19, 4-1, and Saturday, January 20, 4-3. The Nailers have split their last four road games and have dropped four of their last six games overall.

Forward Dillon Hamaliuk leads the Nailers in assists (18) and points (29). Forward Jordan Martel leads the team in goals (13) and has earned a point in three of his last four games.

About the Royals

The Reading Royals, proud affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, are in their 22nd season in the ECHL. They won their first Kelly Cup championship in 2013 and have clinched playoff berths in 12 of the previous 13 seasons.
