F Mitchell returns to Royals, D Drake recalled to Lehigh Valley
Reading, PA – The Reading Royals announced the following roster moves Sunday ahead of today’s 3:05 p.m. game at Worcester.
- Forward Garrett Mitchell has been released from his professional try-out contract (PTO) with Laval and has been added to the Royals’ active roster for Sunday’ game.
- Defenseman David Drake has been recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Mitchell signed a PTO with Laval Jan. 2 and played in two games, increasing his career AHL totals to 402 games played, 53 goals and 110 points (630 PIM). This season with Reading, the team captain has generated six goals, 20 points and a team-leading 81 penalty minutes over 32 games. Mitchell captained Hershey from 2015-18 and skated in 400 games with the Bears. He signed an ECHL deal with Reading Sept. 30.Drake scored one goal and four points in 31 Royals games this season (18 PIM). In his rookie season, Drake contributed one goal and eight points with Reading (48 PIM). He has played eight career AHL games and has two assists and a plus-two rating.The University of Connecticut graduate was selected in the seventh round, 192nd overall and the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Flyers.
