Reading native Steven Swavely rewarded with call up to Lehigh Valley

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, proud ECHL Affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced Wednesday forward Steven Swavely has been recalled on loan to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. A Reading native and 2010 Muhlenberg High School graduate, Swavely is in his second professional season and scored five goals and 13 points with the Royals in 21 games this season. The 26-year-old has excelled with a pair of four-game point streaks this season, most recently coming Nov. 29 – Dec. 2. He owned season tickets to the Royals growing up.

Swavely began the season with Lehigh Valley and had an assist (2 GP). Reading received Swavely on loan Oct. 26.

Last season, Swavely had 39 points in 40 games with Reading. In 33 AHL games, Swavely has three goals and four points. With the University of Maine, Swavely recorded 33 goals and 81 points in 146 games.

Reading announced earlier Wednesday the team acquired forward Colin Martin from Brampton for future considerations.

The Royals play three home games this weekend starting Fri., Dec. 16 with a game against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:00 p.m. On Sat., Dec. 16 against the Nailers, it’s the annual Teddy Bear Toss game and Ugly Sweater Jerseys. Plus, the first 2,000 fans receive a Royals Christmas ornament, presented by Met-Ed. Sunday’s game against Adirondack features $5 Green Zone tickets, magnet photo frame giveaway and dollar dogs, presented by Tower Health.
