Royals Ready to Open Training Camp for Seventeenth Season of Purple Pride with Evening Practice Session

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced the team’s Pre-Season Training Camp Schedule. The on-ice practice sessions, all of which are open to the public, will begin with a fan friendly evening practice on Monday, October 2, 2017, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Fans interested in season tickets and/or mini-plans are particularly encouraged to attend the evening practice session on October 2, as all Royals’ ticket account executives will be there to assist with the ‘Select-A-Seat’ process.

Training Camp for the Seventeenth Season of Purple Pride, which will include a home-and-home pre-season series with the Adirondack Thunder, will feature daily on-ice practice sessions from October 2 through Thursday, October 12. With the exception of the opening session and the pre-season game days, all on-ice practice sessions—which are open to the public—will be held at Santander Arena from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. With respect to the pre-season games, the Royals will face the Thunder in a home-and-home pre-season series, which kicks off on Friday, October 6 (@ 7:00 pm), at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, New York. The two teams will then face one another in the back-end of the two-game set on Sunday, October 8 (@ 4:00 pm) at Santander Arena in Reading. Consistent with the Royals’ approach over the last several seasons, the pre-season game in Reading will be free of charge for fans. Patrons are simply asked to make a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Greater Berks Food Bank when entering Santander Arena that evening. Also, during the pre-season game at Santander Arena, the Royals will host a 50-50 raffle to benefit the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.

The Royals also take this opportunity to remind fans that the team has joined forces with the Allen (Texas) Americans of the ECHL, to generate support for victims of Hurricane Harvey in south Texas. Speficially, the teams have created a special limited edition puck, which displays the teams’ respective logos with the theme “Two Teams – One Goal”. Fans can obtain one of the special edition pucks for just $10.00. The net proceeds of the purchase price will be donated directly to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Fans can pre-order these special limited edition pucks on the Royals’ web store; or they can purchase them at the Lion’s Den Merchandise Outlet inside Santander Arena at the team’s pre-season game while supplies last.

In addition, courtesy of V&M Towing, the Royals are going to wear a special jersey portraying an American Flag theme during the pre-season games. Those jerseys will be offered to fans in an on-line auction with a portion of the proceeds from that auction going to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. The on-line auction for the special V&M Towing American Flag pre-season jersey will open at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 6. The bidding will close at 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, and fans will be able to pick up their signed special jersey that evening directly after the conclusion of the pre-season game at Santander Arena.
