Jack Gulati Leads His Teams' Efforts to Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that Team Owner Jack Gulati has personally pledged a $5,000.00 donation on behalf of his two ECHL teams, the Royals and the Allen Americans, to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.

“This is what we do in America, we help those in need,” said Gulati. “The people in Houston and South Texas need us right now, so on behalf of both of my teams, the Reading Royals and Allen Americans, I’d like to make this donation and encourage other ECHL teams to do the same.”

In addition to the personal donation pledged by Gulati, the Royals and Americans, who are based in Allen, Texas, are joining forces to offer a special limited edition puck, which displays the teams’ respective logos with the theme “Two Teams – One Goal”. Fans can obtain one of the special edition pucks for just $10.00. The net proceeds of the purchase price will be donated directly to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Fans can pre-order these special limited edition pucks on the Royals’ web store; or they can purchase them at the Lion’s Den Merchandise Outlet inside Santander Arena at the team’s pre-season game (details below) while supplies last.

The Royals will also host a special on-line auction of the jerseys that the team will wear in this year’s pre-season games with a portion of the proceeds of that auction going to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. The special jerseys, which are presented by the Royals’ long-time supporter, V&M Towing, portray an American Flag theme and can be viewed on the team’s website (www.royalshockey.com). The on-line auction for the special V&M Towing American Flag pre-season jersey will open at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 6. The bidding will close at 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, and fans will be able to pick up their signed special jersey that same evening directly after the conclusion of the pre-season game at Santander Arena.

With respect to the pre-season schedule, the Royals will face the Adirondack Thunder in the home-and-home pre-season series beginning on Friday, October 6 (@ 7:00 pm), at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, New York. The two teams will then face one another in the back-end of the two-game set on Sunday, October 8 (@ 4:00 pm) at Santander Arena in Reading. Consistent with the Royals’ practice over the last several seasons, the pre-season game in Reading will be free of charge for fans. Patrons are simply asked to make a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Greater Berks Food Bank when entering Santander Arena that evening. Also, during the pre-season game at Santander Arena, the Royals will host a 50-50 raffle to benefit the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
