Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Steve Lebel to an Amateur Tryout Agreement and forward to Matt Salhany to an ECHL Standard Players Contract.

Lebel (6’1 / 203) (24), who hails from Lemoyne, Quebec, recently completed his third season at the University of Moncton where he recorded thirteen points (5g-8a=13pts) and fifty-six penalty minutes in twenty-five games with the Blue Eagles. In 79 games over three seasons at Moncton, Lebel had fifty points (20g-30a) and 129 penalty minutes. Prior to matriculating to Moncton, Lebel played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he registered 144 points (62g-82a) and 130 penalty minutes in 255 total games in the QMJHL.

Salhany (5’9 / 179) (24), who is from Warwick, Rhode Island, recently completed his senior season at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, where he recorded thirteen points (6g-7a) and ten penalty minutes in thirty-four games with the Chargers. Salhany, who was selected as the team’s Freshman of the Year after his first season at UAH, picked up forty-three points (17g-26a) and forty-one penalty minutes in 147 total games with the Chargers.
