Philadelphia, PA (January 27, 2017) – The rivalry continues. On the heels of this month’s Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Game in Philadelphia, as well as last year’s sell-out alumni showdown in Reading, the Flyers Alumni will again host the Penguins Alumni in a cross-state contest set for Saturday, March 18 at 3 p.m. at Santander Arena in Reading, Pa., home of the Flyers’ ECHL affiliate Reading Royals.
Tickets to the March 18 game are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the VF Outlet Box Office at the Santander Arena in Reading.
Full alumni rosters are being solidified and will be announced closer to the event.
This marks the second consecutive season Flyers Alumni will play in Reading following last year’s sold-out intrasquad matchup.
“We are excited to bring the Flyers 50th anniversary celebration to Reading this year,” said Flyers Alumni Association President Brad Marsh. “The response to last year’s game was tremendous, and we really want to embrace our fans and this great partnership in Reading.”
“The Royals organization is extremely pleased to welcome back the Flyers Alumni to Reading this season. We’re excited to engage multiple generations of Flyers fans as their favorite players from different eras will again take the ice,” said Royals President Drew Bell. “This event is a great opportunity through the affiliation relationship with the Flyers and allows us to give fans in Reading a unique experience.”
Funds raised from the game will jointly benefit Royals Charities and the Flyers Alumni Association. Royals Charities focuses on bringing sports and the game of hockey to underprivileged kids in the Greater Reading area. The Flyers Alumni will use the funds to support the future construction of the Edward M. Snider / Alumni Ice Rink, in honor of the late Flyers founder.
