Glens Falls, NY - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that team’s game against the Adirondack Thunder scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, December 20 @ 6:00 pm) in Glens Falls, New York, has been postponed. The City of Glens Falls issued the following statement:
GLENS FALLS – While removing snow from the roof area of the Glens Falls Civic Center on Dec. 19, crews noted deterioration of the parapet wall on the north side of the building.
A structural engineer inspected the arena structure and found it to be sound.
In order to ensure the safety of the public, the City has decided to close the lobby and repair the deteriorated section of the parapet. The lobby must remain closed while the parapet repair is ongoing.
The Adirondack Thunder hockey game scheduled for this evening
(Tuesday, December 20) is postponed. Thunder management is working to reschedule the game and the new date will be announced when it is confirmed. Tickets for tonight’s game will be honored for the rescheduled date.
Remediation work on the parapet will be completed as soon as possible but no estimate of the duration of the repair is available. An update on the status of the repair and the lobby closure will be given tomorrow (Wednesday, December 21.)
Community events scheduled for Heritage Hall and smaller events, described as those with fewer than 100 people, will go on as scheduled, with access to the building available via the Glen Street side entrance.
These remediation repairs are being undertaken to eliminate any potential hazards. During the 2017 construction season the parapet will be completely replaced.
The game between the Royals and Thunder will be rescheduled in the near future.
