Royals Set to Drop the Puck with Olivet Boys & Girls Club

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL and the Olivet Boys & Girls Club in Reading today jointly announced that the Royals are set to conduct a series of four hockey skills clinics for the young members of the Club. The clinics, which are open to all members of the Olivet Boys & Girls Club, will be held at the Mulberry Street location (722 Mulberry Street, Reading, PA) on four Tuesdays beginning this upcoming week (Tuesday, June 21) from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. The clinics are expected to reach well over 100 youngsters ages eight to fourteen and will feature the advice and guidance of the Royals’ staff—as well as a display of the inimitable expert techniques of the organization’s chief character of many skills, Slapshot.

The clinic series is an outgrowth of an appearance last March by Royals’ goaltender Adam Morrison, team spokesperson Alexy Posner and Slapshot, all of whom visited the Boys & Girls Club and spoke (well, most of the speaking was done by Adam and Alexy…) with over 200 youngsters in the after-school program. Adam was so impressed by the program, he actually continued to visit the Boys & Girls Club throughout the remainder of the team’s 2015-16 season.

“We’re very excited to continue to work with the Reading Royals,” said Candice Ninfo, Director of the Olivet Boys & Girls Club, Mulberry Branch. “They do so much for the community, so to have them as our neighbor and supporter is such a blessing. This past year we were able to build an incredible relationship with Adam Morrison. He took it to another level and came in on his own time. The memories he created with our kids will last them a life time”.

Since 1898, the Olivet Boys & Girls Club has been touching the lives of thousands of youth each year, providing the area’s young people most in need of guidance with a safe, fun and positive environment within which to thrive. Inside the Olivet Boys & Girls Club, you’ll find something magical: young people learning, exploring and connecting with caring adults; kids completing their homework; teens researching colleges or planning a community service project; and club members laughing and playing games with their friends, while improving their health at the same time. The Olivet Boys & Girls Club experience is a one of a kind opportunity to unlock great futures.
