Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Martin Ouellette has been recalled to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, the Royals have signed Nick Niedert as the team’s Emergency Back-up Goaltender.
This is the seventh recall of the year to Lehigh Valley for Ouellette, a second year pro from Saint-Hippolyte, Quebec. In twenty-eight games with the Royals, he has gone 15-9-3-0 with a 2.17 goals against average (eighth in the league), a .917 save percentage and three shutouts. Last night, he made twenty-six saves in a 5-1 win for Reading over the Manchester Monarchs to push his personal win streak to four and his unbeaten streak to five (4-0-1-0). Ouellette has appeared in three games for Lehigh Valley (0-2-0-0, 4.50, .877). This is the seventh stint this season for Niedert with the Royals.
The Royals face the Monarchs again tonight (Saturday, March 12 @ 7:00 pm) at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. The game night broadcast for Saturday’s matchup can be heard on CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 in Reading, Pennsylvania, starting with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield at 6:30 pm Eastern Time. Tomorrow’s game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
