Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Adam Berkle to an ECHL Standard Players Contract. In separate transactions, forwards Kevin Goumas, Brandon Alderson and Derek Mathers have been recalled and/or reassigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL.

Berkle, a first year pro from Collegeville, PA, was signed to an ECHL contract by the Royals over this past summer and participated in the team’s training camp. Goumas (1a-1a=2pts in 2 games), Alderson (0g-2a=2pts in 1 game), and Mathers (0g-0a=0pts, 12 PIMs) all played in this past weekend’s two-game season-opening set against the South Carolina Stingrays in North Charleston, SC.

The Royals next take the ice on Friday (October 23), when the team will travel to First Arena in Elmira, New York, to face the Elmira Jackals @ 7:05 pm. The game day broadcast will start at 6:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am / 98.5 in Reading with the pre-game warmup show presented by Highmark Blue Shield. Reading opens the home portion of the team’s schedule on Saturday, October 24, (7:00 pm) when the Jackals visit Santander Arena.
