Royals Announce 2015-16 Opening Day Roster

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced the team’s 2015-16 Opening Day Roster. The Royals Opening Day roster includes twenty-three players (thirteen forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders) with twenty-one active and two on the ECHL Reserve. In transactions previously completed, the Royals signed forward Jonathan Parker to an ECHL Standard Players Contract after he was released by the team and cleared ECHL waivers.

The Fifteenth Anniversary Season of Royals’ hockey kicks off with back-to-back games against the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, South Carolina, on Saturday (October 17 @ 7:05 pm) and Sunday (October 18 @ 3:05 pm).

Please note that there will be no radio coverage on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am / 98.5 fm in Reading for Saturday night’s game because of Penn State football. However, fans can watch the game via streaming video on BCTV in Berks County, Pennsylvania, or on a pay-per-view basis on ECHL.TV. Also, there will be free streaming audio on Saturday via the Royals’ website, www.royalshockey.com.

Please also note that radio coverage on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am / 98.5 fm in Reading will return for Sunday afternoon’s game. Coverage will begin at 2:35 pm with the pre-game warm-up show. Also, fans can watch Sunday’s game via streaming video on BCTV in Berks County, or on a pay-per-view basis on ECHL.TV. As with Saturday’s game, there will also be free streaming audio on the Royals’ website.

Reading opens the home portion of the team’s schedule on Saturday, October 24, (7:00 pm) when the Elmira Jackals visit Santander Arena. The home opener will be preceded by a Block Party complete with a FREE concert by the Gin Blossoms. Season Tickets for the 2015-16 Reading Royals ECHL season are currently available.
