Royals Road Games Return to BCTV for Fifteenth Anniversary Season

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, Berks Community Television (BCTV), NeuLion Sports, Boscov’s Travel, and Apple Vacations today announced their joint partnership to televise the Royals’ 2015-16 road games on BCTV in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The television coverage of the Royals’ Fifteenth Anniversary Season will also include four thirty-minute variety shows that will be produced by the Royals and telecast on BCTV.

Royals TV presented by Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations will launch its sixth year of hockey coverage in Berks County on October 17, 2015, at 7:05 pm when the Royals kick off the team’s fifteenth season of professional hockey with the season opening game against the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Royals TV will carry the team’s regular season and playoff road games on BCTV cable channels which can be accessed on Comcast Reading Cable Channel 15, Service Electric Cable Channel 19, and Comcast Southern Berks Channel 965. The digital video feed, which will be provided by NeuLion Sports, will be simulcast with the Royals Radio Network audio feed courtesy of Cumulus Media, Inc. and CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 fm in Reading. As with the last several seasons, BCTV will re-broadcast Friday night games the following Saturday morning at 9:00 am; and all Saturday night road games will be replayed the following Sunday morning at 9:00 am. Telecasts from ECHL rinks this year are expected to benefit from a league requirement that all video equipment be upgraded to High Definition quality.

Please note that there will be no BCTV telecast of the Royals’ game on Friday, October 23, from Elmira, New York. That night, BCTV will be hosting the station’s weeklong annual Octoberfest fund raising auction. Royals’ fans are encouraged to participate in the annual fund raiser in support of the team’s television partner. Of course, for this game—and for those who are unable to access BCTV—fans can watch all of the exciting Royals’ games this season (including home games) on ECHL.TV.

“The Royals are thrilled to have our road games back on BCTV,” said Royals’ President Drew Bell. “Of all of the many things we seek to do for our fans, it seems like the BCTV coverage gets one of the most positive reactions. In addition to telecasting our road games, we’re also excited by the prospect of producing a series of shows that will highlight a number of the different facets of our organization, including our fans. The Royals want to thank Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations, as well as the management and staff at BCTV, all of whom are such an important part of telecasts. We also want to thank once again our radio partner, Cumulus Media and CBS SportsRadio, for permitting the simulcast of the game night radio broadcast.”

Heather Adams, Executive Director of BCTV, stated, “we consider Royals’ hockey an important component of our community programming. We get considerable positive feedback on our Royals’ coverage, and we look forward to improving the quality of the telecasts with the improved video coverage in the rinks throughout the ECHL. We want to thank Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations for their support of BCTV, and we hope the Royals capture another Kelly Cup this year.”

“Boscov’s Travel is excited to once again join forces with Apple Vacations this season to bring the Fifteenth Anniversary Season of Royals hockey to Berks County on BCTV,” stated Pat Cinfici, the President of Boscov’s Travel. “Of course, we’re here to help fans out with their travel plans when they go on the road with the team—or any time they may need travel assistance. As far as the Royals’ road games are concerned, we believe Royals TV is the next best thing to actually being there.”

The Fifteenth Anniversary Season of Royals’ hockey kicks off with back-to-back games against the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday (October 17) and Sunday (October 18). Reading opens the home portion of the team’s schedule on Saturday, October 24, (7:00 pm) when the Elmira Jackals visit Santander Arena.
