Royals Sign Defenseman Curtis Leonard to ATO

Royals Sign Defenseman Curtis Leonard to ATO

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Curtis Leonard to an Amateur Tryout Agreement.

Leonard (6’3/202) (22), who hails from Napanee, Ontario, just completed his senior season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he led defensemen on the team with ten points (2g-8a) in thirty-nine games with the Engineers. Leonard, who was a two-time selection to the ECAC All-Academic Team while at RPI, served as a team captain this year. In 151 games with the Engineers, Leonard registered forty-three points (9g-34a) and 84 penalty minutes.

NEXT UP: The Royals travel to Canada for the first time in team history for three in a row against the Brampton Beast starting tomorrow night (Thursday, March 19 @ 7:00 pm) at PowerAde Centre in Brampton, Ontario. The game night broadcast for Thursday’s matchup can be heard live on CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 in Reading, Pennsylvania, starting with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield at 6:30 pm Eastern Time. As with all Royals’ road games, Thursday’s game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations. Streaming audio is available free of charge on the Royals’ website (follow the ‘headset’ icon); and streaming video is available on a pay-per-view basis through ECHL.TV.
