Royals Acquire Forward Kevin Sullivan from Missouri Mavericks

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, today announced that the team has acquired forward Kevin Sullivan as completion of the future considerations element of the trade that sent defenseman Colby Cohen from the Royals to the Missouri Mavericks on November 8, 2014. In a separate transaction also announced today, forward David Marshall has been released from his PTO with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL and returned to the Royals. In another transaction previously undertaken, the Royals traded goaltender Joe Howe to the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL for future considerations.

Sullivan (6’0/191), a first year pro who hails from Darien, Connecticut, and turned twenty-four yesterday, began the season with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and recorded thirteen points (2g-11a) and two penalty minutes in twenty-eight games prior to being released on Friday. Missouri asserted a successful waiver claim to Sullivan’s ECHL rights on Saturday. Prior to turning pro, Sullivan played four seasons at Union College. In his senior season, Sullivan and his teammates claimed the 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey National Championship. At the conclusion of that season, Sullivan, who was second on the team in assists (29) and fourth in points (38), was named the team’s Most Improved Player. In 132 career collegiate games, Sullivan registered seventy-seven points (23g-54a) and sixty penalty minutes.

Marshall was loaned to Binghamton on January 10. In four games with the Senators, Marshall scored one goal and picked up two penalty minutes. Howe appeared in two games for the Royals, compiling a 1-0-0-0 record with a 2.30 goals against average and .905 save percentage.
