Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Brandon Alderson has been assigned by the Flyers from the Phantoms to the Royals. In separate transactions also announced today, the Royals: (i) traded forward Brock Higgs to the South Carolina Stingrays for future considerations; (ii) signed Pete Dundovich as an emergency back-up goaltender; (iii) placed forward Andrew Johnston on the ECHL Reserve list; and (iv) placed forward Matt Hatch on the ECHL Reserve List.

Alderson (6’4/216) (22), a second year pro from Oakville, Ontario, has scored two goals, assisted on two others, and picked up twenty-eight penalty minutes in seventeen games with Lehigh Valley this season. Last year in his first year of pro, Alderson, who was signed by the Flyers to an entry-level NHL contract in March of 2013, recorded twenty-one points (14g- 7a) and forty-two penalty minutes in 71 games with the Phantoms. His fourteen goals tied him for third on the team. Prior to turning pro, Alderson played 267 games in the Ontario Hockey League (69g-88a=157, 238 pims). In his overage season, 2012-13, he led the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds with twenty-eight goals in sixty-seven major junior games.

Higgs, a first year pro from Kingston, Ontario, recorded four points (1g-3a) and two penalty minutes in eleven games with Reading. This marks the first time that Dundovich (6’2/197) (29), who hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has played forty-three games in the Federal Hockey League, has served as an EBG for Reading.

Tonight, Friday, November 28, 2014 @ 7:30 pm, the Royals take on the Greenville Road Warriors for the first time this season at Santander Arena in Reading.
