Royals' Training Camp Opens with Saturday Practice and Features Pre-Season Game to Benefit Greater Reading Food Bank

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, today announced the team’s Pre-Season Training Camp Schedule. The on-ice practice sessions will begin with a fan friendly weekend practice session on Saturday, October 4, 2014, (10:00 am – 12:00 noon) at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. The fourteenth Training Camp in Reading Royals’ hockey history will continue with daily skating sessions through Thursday, October 16, and will feature two Pre-Season Games against the arch-rival Elmira Jackals.

On-ice practice sessions during the Royals’ Pre-Season Training Camp, which are open to the public, will be held from 10 am through 12 noon each day at Santander Arena through Tuesday, October 14, but please note that camp will shift to the Body Zone Sports & Wellness Complex (3103 Paper Mill Road, Wyomissing, PA; 610-376-2100) for Wednesday, October 15, and Thursday, October 16 (11 am through 1 pm).

The Royals home-and-home pre-season series against the Elmira Jackals kicks off on Friday, October 10 (7:05 pm) when the team will travel to First Arena in Elmira, New York, for Pre-Season Game One. The next night, Saturday, October 11 (7:05 pm), the Royals and Jackals will face-off in Pre-Season Game Two at Santander Arena in Reading.

This season, the Royals have joined forces with the SMG managed Santander Arena and the Greater Berks Food Bank to invite everyone to attend Pre-Season Game Two game for FREE! Fans can gain admission to the Royals’ home pre-season game simply by bringing and donating a canned good or non-perishable food item for the Food Bank that will be collected at the main entrance to Santander Arena that night.

The Royals open the 2014-15 season on Saturday, October 18, at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, where the team will face the Wheeling Nailers. The home portion of the schedule will kick off the following Saturday (October 25, 2014 @ 7:05 pm) when the Elmira Jackals travel to Santander Arena. Royals’ season tickets are currently available.
