Royals Launch New Era with Installation of State-of-the-Art Custom Video Display System

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, today announced that the organization is installing a brand new state-of-the-art custom video display system inside Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. The fully integrated system, which is sponsored by Tompkins VIST Bank and Weichert Realtors® Neighborhood One, will include a center hung four-sided high definition LED video board with a digital circular ribbon underneath, as well as two end-zone digital boards. The installation of the new system is scheduled to be complete in mid-October.

“We are absolutely thrilled to launch a new era of Royals hockey with this dramatic upgrade to the experience for our fans and business partners at Santander Arena,” said Royals’ team president Drew Bell. “We are committed to energizing every element of our game night presentation this season, and this state of the art custom high definition video and scoreboard system will provide our fans and business partners with a premier professional hockey and entertainment experience. We want to especially thank our friends at Tompkins VIST Bank and Weichert Realtors® Neighborhood One without whom this renovation, which we believe is the most significant addition to the Royals’ game night experience in our fourteen year history in Reading, would not have been possible.”

“The new video and scoreboard system is truly a great enhancement and shows a strong future commitment by the Reading Royals, Drew Bell and Jack Gulati to the arena, the fans and the players.  We are excited to partner with Weichert Realtors® Neighborhood One and the Reading Royals.  As a community bank we believe in the power of partnerships and look forward to being a part of enhancing our city’s team and arena and helping to promote downtown Reading and the entire region.  It’s a great time to be part of the excitement and energy that the new ownership has brought to the Reading Royals.  The future looks bright for our community,” stated Scott Gruber President and Chief Executive Officer, Tompkins VIST Bank.

“Reading and Berks County are home to my family, friends and customers. I am proud to have the opportunity to be affiliated with the Reading Royals, Santander Arena and Mr. Gulati,” said Jeffrey Hogue owner of Weichert Realtors® Neighborhood One. “Certainly, this is a significant enhancement of the game night presentation by the Royals for their fans. I see this project as more than the raising of a fantastic technological advancement, it signifies the belief the Royals and their ownership have in this community. We’re excited for the future of the Royals, Santander Arena, the downtown Reading area, and all of Berks County.”

The new integrated video display system is currently under development by Daktronics, a world-renowned video display manufacturer. The center hung portion of the system includes a four-sided video board with each side measuring 9.5 feet high and 12.5 feet wide. The video boards use state-of-the-art LEDs at six millimeter line spacing to create a seamless high definition image. Through remote computer control, the video board is able to display cutting edge video presentations, including game action replays. These displays can also be divided into multiple windows to show graphics, animations, sponsor messages, real-time statistics and other game information.

Underneath the video board, a digital circular ribbon measuring 2 feet high and 42 feet in circumference can be independently controlled to provide an integrated system of entertainment and information, including real-time statistics. At either end of Santander Arena, the scoreboard system will include two separate digital boards measuring 2.6 feet high and 10 feet long, which feature the same capabilities as the main video displays and can mirror their content.
