Royals Sign Forward Bryce Williamson

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced the team has signed forward Bryce Williamson to an ECHL contract and placed him on the ECHL Reserve List. In separate transactions announced today, the Royals also (i) activated forward Brandon Blandina from the ECHL Reserve List: (iii) released forward Jon Swavely from his Amateur Tryout Agreement; and (iv) suspended forward Adrian Foster.

Williamson (5’10/191) (24), who hails from Seba Beach, Alberta, just completed his senior season at Bowling Green State University where he was the team’s second leading scorer with twenty-eight points (12g-16a) and twenty-three penalty minutes in thirty-nine games with the Falcons. Williamson, who was selected as BGSU’s Most Improved Player after his junior year, received Western Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team honors at the conclusion of this past season. In 154 total games with the Falcons, Williamson recorded seventy-points (32g-38a=70pts) and ninety-two penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, April 4 @ 7:05 pm) when the Kalamazoo Wings visit Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. Tonight is American Cancer Society night and the first 2000 fans 15 and older will receive a Royals/ACS T-Shirt courtesy of Reading Health System. The Miller-Keystone Blood Center will also hold a blood drive that night in front of Santander Arena prior to the game. The game night broadcast tonight will kick off at 6:35 pm on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Highmark Blue Shield.
