Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Riley Gill has been loaned by Bears to the Royals. In a separate transaction, goaltender Carsen Chubak has been recalled from Reading to the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL.
Gill, a fourth year pro from Northfield, Minnesota, was recalled to Hershey for the second time this season on December 30. He played three games for the Bears during this most recent stint in the AHL, compiling a record of 2-0-1-0 with a 1.66 goals against average and a .948 save percentage. In sixteen appearances with Reading this year, Gill is 10-6-0-0 record with a 2.23 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. Chubak, a first year pro from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, made 26 saves in a 5-4 win over the Toledo Walleye on Saturday, January 18, in his only appearance for Reading.
The Royals return to action on Friday (January 24 @ 7:30 pm) when the team kicks off a six-game eleven day road trip against the Kalamazoo Wings at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As with all Royals’ road games this year, Friday’s game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations. The game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 7:05 pm on the Royals Broadcast Network.::
