Yannick Tifu and Royals' Power Play Strikes in the Effort to End Cancer

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that team captain Yannick Tifu will donate $10.00 to the American Cancer Society for every power play goal scored by the Royals at Santander Arena through the Royals’ game on Friday, April 4, 2014, when the team will face the Kalamazoo Wings (7:05 pm) and host ‘American Cancer Society Night’.

“We want to pass on our sincere thanks to Yannick and the team for joining the fight against cancer in this way,” said Barb Bieber, American Cancer Society Specialist – Relay for Life. “It’s because of the passion and dedication of those in our community that we will be able to put an end to this battle. We are so glad to be partnered with the Reading Royals in this fight against cancer.”

Captain Tifu’s donation will support the Cancer Society’s 2014 ‘Finish the Fight’ campaign – leading the way to transform cancer from deadly to preventable—and will be presented at the game on April 4. The Royals would also like to pass on our sincere thanks to team sponsor V&M Towing, who has generously agreed to match the captain’s donation. The Royals encourage all fans and sponsors to get on board with matching donations, as well. More information can be obtained in this regard from the Royals and Santander Arena Senior Sales and Marketing Manager Heather Adams (hadams@santander-arena.com; 610-898-7214). More information on the American Cancer Society is available at www.cancer.org.

The Royals return to action tomorrow (Friday, December 6 @ 7:00 pm), when the team will travel to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, to face-off against the Wheeling Nailers. That night, the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield will kick off at 6:30 pm on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm on the Royals Broadcast Network. As with all Royals road games this season, Friday’s game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
