Royals Teddy Bear Toss Game Postponed Until Sunday at 5:05 pm

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the matchup against the Elmira Jackals scheduled for tonight (Saturday, December 14) at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania, has been postponed and rescheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, December 15, at 5:05 pm.

“Due to the impending weather forecast from the National Weather Service of snow, ice and sleet for this afternoon and evening, we felt it necessary to postpone tonight’s game against Elmira,” said Royals General Manager Mark Wallace. “With Elmira still having to travel, in addition to our own fans safety and the availability of Sunday as a play date, we feel this is the most practical way to handle this rescheduling.”

Sunday’s game will feature all of the activities originally scheduled for tonight, including the Kelly Cup Championship Holiday Ornament giveaway, which will be given away to the first 1500 fans fifteen years of age and older courtesy of Toys for Tots. Sunday’s game will also feature the team’s Teddy Bear Toss when fans are encouraged to throw a stuffed animal on the ice when the Royals score their first goal of the night. The stuffed animals will be collected by members of U.S. Marine Corps and Reading High Junior ROTC and donated to Toys for Tots.

On Sunday, the Royals will also wear the now-world-famous ‘Ugly Holiday Sweater’ Special Jersey. Fans can purchase the game-worn jerseys online (www.royalshockey.com) starting at 9:00 pm after the game. The purchase price starts at $399.00. A portion of the proceeds from the special jersey sale will go to Toys for Tots.

The Royals will also have a Sunday afternoon version of our ‘Saturday Night Shoot for Cash’ courtesy of Diamond Credit Union, and everyone will get a chance to take a shot in the post-game ham shoot courtesy of Berks Packing. However, please note that tomorrow’s game will not be a food and beverage Dollar Day.

Sunday’s game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 4:35 pm.
