Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Capitals have recalled goaltender Brandon Anderson from Reading and reassigned him to Hershey. In other transactions undertaken today, the Royals (i) signed Josh Watson as the team’s emergency back-up goaltender; and (ii) placed defenseman Ryan Kavanagh on team suspension.
This is the second recall and reassignment of the season for Anderson, a second year pro from Langley, British Columbia. He has appeared in nine games with the Royals and compiled a 4-4-1-0 record with a 3.00 goals against average and a .884 save percentage. This is the fourth stint as an EBG for Watson with the Royals. Kavanagh, a third year pro from Kirkland, Quebec, recorded seven points (1g-6a) and four penalty minutes in nineteen games with Reading. He has informed the team that he intends to pursue an opportunity in European professional hockey.
The Royals return to action on Friday (December 20, 2013 @ 8:00 pm) when the team will travel to the Allen County War Memorial Arena to face the Fort Wayne Komets in a two-game series. The game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 will kick off with the Highmark Blue Shield Warm-Up Show at 7:30 pm. As with all Royals’ road games this season, Friday’s game will be televised locally in Berks County Pennsylvania on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
