Royals Sign Forward Kyle Thomas

Royals Sign Forward Kyle Thomas

Reading, PA – Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Kyle Thomas to an ECHL contract.

Last season, Thomas (6’0/191) (23), a first year pro who hails from Waltham, Massachusetts, scored thirteen goals and assisted on sixteen others (twenty-nine points) and picked up forty penalty minutes in twenty-eight games in his senior season at Norwich University. Thomas, who was a three time selection to the ECAC-East All-Conference team, helped Norwich advance to the NCAA D-III Frozen Four in all four years of his collegiate eligibility. In his freshman year, he led the Cadets with twenty-three goals and was selected as the ECAC-E Rookie of the Year. That season (2009-10), Norwich went on to capture the NCAA D-III National Championship. In 114 total college games, Thomas recorded 126 points (68g-58a) and 104 penalty minutes.

Reading returns to action on Friday (November 15 @ 7:30 pm), when the team will travel to Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to face the Kalamazoo Wings for the first time this season. Friday’s game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio in Reading (1240 am and 98.5 fm) will kick off at 7:00 pm with the pre-game warm-up show presented by High Mark Blue Shield. Friday’s game, as with all Royals’ road games this season, will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
