The Royals launch the 2013-14 season with the Get-Back-to-Business Blockbuster Block Party on Penn Street immediately prior to home opener on Saturday, October 19. The fun will kick off directly in front of Santander Arena (700 Penn Street, Reading, PA) at 4:00 pm and lead up to the Championship Banner Presentation immediately preceding the Royals’ season opening face-off against the South Carolina Stingrays (7:35 pm).

Of course, the guest of honor for the season opening Get-Back-to-Business Blockbuster Block Party will be Miss Kelly. DMK Productions will set up a photo-booth so that everyone can say cheese next to the shiny ‘new’ Cup which has now been engraved with the names of the 2013 Royals. The GBBB Block Party will have plenty to do for everyone in the family, including a number of participatory games, a face-painter, and—get those arm muscles ready—a season-opening ‘Smash-a-Car’ courtesy of V&M Towing for your sledge-hammer swinging pleasure. Penn Street will be rocking with music, and to keep your energy going for the upcoming game, there will be hot dogs provided by SONIC® Drive-In, as well as other refreshments, including non-alcoholic beverages, provided by the Royals. The Royals Booster Club will also be on hand to get everyone ramped up for the kick-off of the Royals’ efforts to become the first team in ECHL history to repeat as Kelly Cup Champions. The first 5000 fans attending Saturday night’s opening game against South Carolina will receive a Kelly Cup Championship Mini-Banner courtesy of Reading Health System.

The Royals also face the Stingrays on Sunday, October 20 (4:05 pm) at Santander Arena in Game Two of the Season Opening Weekend. That day, the first 3500 fans will receive a schedule magnet courtesy of Deibler Dental. Sunday is also a Berks Packing Dollar Day ($1.00 hot dogs, soda, popcorn, and nachos), and the team will also host a Bring Your Own Skates Post-Game Skate with the Players presented by the Body Zone Sports & Wellness Complex.

For both games of the Season Opening Weekend, the Royals will also wear a specially designed, commemorative Kelly Cup Championship jersey that will be used throughout the season for game night raffles.
