Radio Recon Keeps on Rolling at Railroad House

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the team’s weekly coach’s show, Royals Radio Recon, will be held for the third consecutive season at Jimmy G’s Railroad House Sports Bar and Restaurant (152 Woodrow Ave., Sinking Spring, PA; 610-678-1177). The show, which airs on Tuesday nights from 6 – 7 pm, will kick off the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, October 15.

The hour-long show, which will be hosted by Royals’ broadcaster Mark Thompson and color commentator Pat Richards, will feature Head Coach Larry Courville and a couple of the team’s players each week. This season, Radio Recon is also expected to have a regularly occurring series of special episodes hosted by Royals’ forward Ethan Cox, who may have to audition potential co-hosts in light of the retirement of his broadcasting partner, Kirk MacDonald—who was such an important component to last year’s hit ‘Cox and K-Mac’ version of Radio Recon. The show will be broadcast live on Reading’s sports station, CBS SportsRadio 1240 am and 98.5 fm. Of course, fans are encouraged to attend and participate with questions, comments, and—most importantly perhaps—some type of cogent response to the stream-of-conscious obsessive-compulsive crazy trivia questions that often run amuck.

The Railroad House, which dates back to the 1800s and was re-opened by Jimmy Giuffrida and his wife, April, in 2007, features a menu steeped in American cuisine, offering many traditional favorites at affordable prices. The venue, which hosts live music on many nights, boasts no fewer than twenty-six flat-panel high-definition televisions and two huge high-definition projector televisions, providing sports fans access to virtually all of the available televised action on any given night.

The Royals kick off the defense of the team’s 2013 Kelly Cup Championship on Saturday, October 19, 2013, (7:35 pm), at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, with the 2013-14 season opener against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Royals also face the Stingrays on Sunday, October 20 (4:05 pm) in Game Two of Opening Weekend. Season Tickets for the 2013-14 Reading Royals are currently available.
