Second year D-Man Leads Danbury Whalers of FHL with 167 PIMs

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Anthony Pisano to an ECHL contract. The Royals also activated goaltender Sergey Kostenko from the team’s Reserve List and placed forward Ethan Cox on Reserve. In a separate transactions previously completed, the Royals released defenseman James Sanford from his ECHL contract. This season, Pisano (6’6/257) (23), who was born in New York, New York and hails from Andover, Massachusetts, has scored one goal and assisted on four others (five points) in twenty-one games with the Danbury Whalers of the Federal Hockey League. Pisano, a second year pro who played two games with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL last season, leads the Whalers with 167 penalty minutes. Sanford recorded one assist in two games with Reading. The Royals kick off a season long five-game road trip tonight (Friday, February 1 @ 7:05pm) when the team travels to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, where the Royals will take on the Wheeling Nailers. The game day broadcast will kick off on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm at 6:35 pm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru. As with all Royals road games this season, Friday’s game from Wheeling will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania on BCTV courtesy of Boscov’s Travel and Apple Vacations.
