Goaltender Drew MacIntyre’s Return from Hershey Among Six Transactions

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Drew MacIntyre has been returned to the Royals from the Bears. Also, in a separate transaction, the Bears recalled forward Alex Berry. In other transactions undertaken today, the Royals (i) activated forward Julien Cayer from the team’s Reserve List; (ii) placed forward David Civitarese on the team’s Reserve List; and (iii) and activated forward Trevor Lewis from the 21-Day Injured Reserve; and (iv) traded Lewis to the Cincinnati Cyclones for future considerations. MacIntyre, a tenth year pro from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, was loaned to Hershey on Monday. He served as the team’s back-up in the Bears’ 3-2 shootout win over the Worcester Sharks on Wednesday. In three appearances with Reading, MacIntyre has compiled a 2-1-0-0 record with a 1.78 goals against average and a .942 save percentage. . Berry, a third year pro from Danvers, Massachusetts, was loaned to Reading by the Bears on Wednesday and played in the Royals’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Trenton Titans that day. He has eleven points (5g-6a) and thirty penalty minutes in sixteen games with the Royals. Cayer, a first year pro from Longueil, Q uebec, was placed on the team’s Reserve List on Wednesday. He has three points (0g-3a) and ten penalty minutes in 23 games with Reading. Civitarese, a first year pro from Calgary, Alberta, has played five games with the Royals, collecting one assist. Lewis, a first year pro from Lititz, Pennsylvania, sustained an injury in a pre-season game with the Royals and did not appear in a regular season game for the team. Tonight (Friday, January 18 @ 7:05 pm), the Royals kick off a six game home stand when the Cincinnati Cyclones visit the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA for the first time this year. The first 1500 fans 18 and older will receive a ‘Road to the All-Star Game’ T-shirt with the images of Denny Urban and Philipp Grubauer courtesy of CJ Tire and Automotive Service.
