First Year Pro Won Two NCAA National Championships at Boston College

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Edwin Shea to an ECHL contract. Shea (6’0) (191), a first year pro from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, started the season with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL, where he recorded one assist in nine games before being released on November 12. Prior to turning pro, Shea played four seasons with the Boston College Eagles where he was a member of two NCAA national championship teams. In 139 collegiate games, Shea recorded twenty-one points (1g-20a) and forty-four penalty minutes. The Royals return to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Friday, December 14 (7:05 pm) when the Fort Wayne Komets make their first visit ever to Reading. Also, on Friday night thanks to Xfinitity, the world famous ZOOPERSTARS will appear at the Sovereign Center to whip the crowd into a frenzy!
