Royals Activate Defenseman Brock Shelgren from Reserve List

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Patrick Wellar has been recalled to the Bears from the Royals. In a separate transaction also announced today, the Royals activated defenseman Brock Shelgren from the team’s Reserve List. A ninth year pro from Carrot River, Saskatchewan, Wellar has recorded five points (1g-4a) and twenty-five penalty minutes in eighteen games with the Royals. He has played one game with the Bears this season recording seven penalty minutes. Shelgren, a first year pro from Chicago, Illinois, was claimed by the Royals after he was released by the Greenville Road Warriors on October 19. He played one game for the Road Warriors and recorded four penalty minutes. Shelgren has not yet appeared in a game for the Royals. The Royals travel to Elmira, New York, for back-to-back games against the Atlantic Division rival Elmira Jackals tonight (Friday, December 7) and Saturday (December 8). Both games are scheduled to start at 7:00 pm with the Game Night Broadcast kicking off at 6:30 pm on ESPN Radio (1240 am and 98.5 fm). As with all Royals road games this season, the games on Friday and Saturday will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV.
