Second Year Defenseman Recorded Assist on Third Period Game-Tying Goal for Worcester Last Night

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Denny Urban has been returned to the Royals from the Worcester Sharks of the AHL. In separate transactions announced today, the Royals also activated forward Brandon Blandina from the team’s Reserve List and placed forward Danick Paquette on Reserve. Urban was loaned by Reading to Worcester on Thursday, and he played in last night’s dramatic come-from-behind 5-4 win for the Sharks over the Providence Bruins. In his first ever AHL game, Urban recorded an assist on the Sharks game-tying fourth goal, which was scored on the power play 13:12 into the third period. Urban, who played to a plus-1 (+1) in last night’s game, was also on ice for the Sharks dramatic game winner with just eleven seconds left in regulation. A second year pro from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Urban currently leads the Royals—and all defensemen in the ECHL—with twelve goals. His five power play goals and three game winners also lead the team in those categories. Urban, who has played to a plus-10 (+10) in twenty-seven games with the Royals this season, has twenty-four total points (12g-12a), which places him second amongst defenseman in the league. Until last night, Urban had played 113 consecutive regular season games with Reading since joining the club in March of 2011. Blandina has played three games for the Royals without registering any points or penalty minutes. Paquette has recorded nineteen penalty minutes in two games with Reading. The Royals take on the Gwinnett Gladiators tonight (Saturday, December 22 @ 7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. It’s Union Night with special ticket prices for members of labor unions. After the game, everyone will have a chance to shoot for a ham courtesy of Berks Packing. The Game Night Broadcast kicks off at 6:35 pm on ESPN Radio (1240 am and 98.5 fm).
